What is "Dark Knights"?
Dark Knights is:
- A temporary ritual space created for bdsm players in which they can
safely indulge in practice of any stripe - dark or light
- A safe space for newcomers to explore the eroticism of sensation
play and BDSM, socialize, or just observe (from a respectful
distance...)
- A place where people can do heavy play and not feel judged
- A place where all genders and orientations are welcome - including
ftm's - as are players of color
- A place where costuming, role play, age play, and pony play are
especially welcome
- A comfortable place for women. Gender balance is tracked for
every party so that the majority of party guests are women - bi, het,
and gay - and all male members are well-behaved - or removed. No
predatory cruising or roving wankers at Dark Knights parties...
- A hot place for bondage, singletailing, suspensions...D/s, terror,
feathers, nail polish, nerdverts, Goths, Vickies, a soft breath in a
warm ear...
- A melange of food and drink and music and atmosphere
- We ask attendees to wear black or fetishwear, or a costume of
their choice, to the party - out of respect for the ritual space and
naked energy of play therein.
- The Dark Knights' signature symbol/pattern is a black-and-white
check pattern. Resembling a chess board ("and all the people merely
players...") and suggesting the Knight chess piece, never moving in a
straight line, suggestive also of a racing flag (speed, danger,
challenge...) and now the Safe Sex hankie code pattern, the
black-and-white check has a number of connotations beyond that.
Sacred in Bali, where temple priests wear what look like racing flags
around their waists as sarongs, the dark/light symbolism denotes the
dichotomy of existence - black/white, good/evil, taker/taken,
top/bottom, male/female, yin/yang - duality in balance. A way to
welcome and wish luck to those entering the party space, embracing
the dark and the light of their own duality in the exchange of power,
as expression, diversion, or a conduit for something more.
